Schools Pack of Activities for visits to St. John’s Church, Worksop

This pack of resources – trails, information sheets and worksheets – has been produced by a group of volunteers at St. John’s Church as part of the Spire Heritage Project, a National Lotter Heritage Funded project to restore the church Spire and repair the roofs as well as to promote our heritage within North Worksop. It is freely downloadable by schools.

Several types of visit are possible depending on the ages of the children including interactive guided walks and independent tours using a range of worksheets:

  • Visiting several parts of the church including font, organ, chancel, altar, lectern and stained-glass windows with bags to illustrate purpose at each one for younger children.
  • Semi guided follow the Fish trail to identify main features of the church with worksheet.
  • Independent tour using a range of worksheets such as the Photo Quiz and Identifying features on a map.

We also have a Story sack of the stained-glass window of Jesus feeding the 5000 available to use.

A class set of 35 clipboards with writing and colouring pencils etc. are available in the church for the use of the children.

The resources and sheets below may be used for follow up work back at school.
